Curriculum

The programme is based on three competence areas:
1. digital transformation of enterprises
2. business ecosystems
3. horizons of the digital economy.

The three themes include modules designed to enhance the capabilities needed in business environment. The thesis process focuses on developing skills in information retrieval, analysis, scientific writing, and research and development methods.

The mission is to educate and train professionals with the competencies needed to create and develop sustainable businesses in the digital transformation era. The program focuses on digital transformation strategies, establishing and managing business ecosystems, and planning and forecasting for new strategic directions in the digital business landscape. Future business leaders must master effective collaboration to achieve broader social goals and drive systemic change.

The online Master’s programme offers a unique blend of theoretical knowledge and practical insights to enhance your competencies in leading a digital business. The extent of the Master’s degree at the University of Applied Sciences is 60 ECTS in the fields of technology and transportation, agriculture and forestry, and fine arts, and 90 ECTS in other fields.

The Digital Business Management Master’s programme consists of 1) core competence studies and 2) profiling competence studies.

The core competence studies (60 ECTS) included in the program are:

• The Global Digital Economy (5 ECTS)
• Planning and Horizons of the Digital Economy (5 ECTS)
• Business Ecosystems (5 ECTS)
• Digital Transformation Strategies (5 ECTS)
• Business research and development methods (5 ECTS)
• Master’s Thesis (30 ECTS).

Profiling competence studies (30 ECTS) are selected from the diverse offerings of Lapland UAS’s Master School. The range of profiling competence studies allows students to create a personalized study plan that best supports their competence needs and career path. The offerings include courses in areas such as digitalisation skills, management skills, business skills, technology skills, future design skills, research and development skills, and renewable working life skills.

Profiling competence studies can also include higher education courses (EQF7) offered by other universities.
